Draft, not final, last updated 12 October 2026.

This is a working draft. It is not final, has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and may change substantially before it is. Please don’t rely on it as Astry’s final terms. Words in square brackets are details still to be filled in.

Copyright Policy (draft)

How to tell us a resource copies your work, and what happens next.

1. Respecting other people’s work

Sellers on Astry must only list work they created or have permission to sell, and everyone must only share material they have the right to share (see our Terms and Conditions and Tutor and Seller Agreement). This policy explains what happens when someone believes that rule has been broken.

We follow this process because we think it is fair, not because a law requires it in this form. It doesn’t give anyone rights against Astry beyond those the law already gives.

2. Telling us about a copy of your work

If you own the copyright in something, or are authorised to act for the owner, and you believe it has been copied on Astry without permission, email hello@astry.com.au with “Copyright” in the subject line. Please include:

  1. your name, and your email address and phone number;
  2. what the original work is, and a copy of it or a link to where it is published;
  3. a link to each page on Astry where the copy appears;
  4. if you act for the owner, who the owner is and that you are authorised to act for them;
  5. a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised by the owner or allowed by law, such as fair dealing for research, study, criticism or review; and
  6. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate.

You can also use the report button on the resource. We may ask you for the details above before we act.

3. What we do

  • We look at every complete notice. If it shows a likely infringement, we take the content down or hide it.
  • We tell the seller or person who posted it, and send them your notice, which may include your name and contact details so they can sort it out with you directly.
  • If a paid resource is taken down, buyers who paid for it may be refunded and the seller’s payout reversed, under our Refund Policy.
  • We may also take content down ourselves if we can see it is copied, without waiting for a notice.

4. If your content was taken down

If you believe your content was taken down by mistake, for example because you created it or have permission to use it, email hello@astry.com.au with:

  1. your name and the account the content was on;
  2. what was taken down;
  3. why you believe you have the right to use it, with any proof such as a licence or your original files; and
  4. a statement that the information in your reply is accurate.

We will send your reply to the person who complained. We may put the content back if we are satisfied it isn’t an infringement, unless they tell us they have started legal action. We don’t decide copyright disputes, and the two of you can resolve them in court or another way.

5. Accounts that keep infringing

We close the account of anyone who repeatedly lists or shares work they don’t have the right to, and may close an account after one serious case, such as listing a whole textbook or paid course.

6. Misusing this process

Sending a notice you know is false, for example to remove a competitor’s resource, is a breach of our Terms and may make you liable to the person affected. Before sending a notice, please consider whether the use could be allowed by law, such as fair dealing.
